Teaching Children how to EVANGELIZE

The greatest Evangelist that ever lived was Jesus! As believers, we should all be evangelizing and that is my attempt through this article, from a different perspective.

I have been a Sunday School Teacher and I am a Trained Teacher who has worked in a Christian school. I have therefore learnt a thing or two through experience and observation. Am I an expert? No, as you do something, however you place yourself in a position to learn, grow and share and that is what The Lord has led me to do through this article.

Evangelism For Children

Steps to Teach Children and thus Empower them to share The Gospel.

  • Step 1: Instruct children to first share with others what they know about God.

For example: " Hi, my name is _______ .You know I serve an awesome God who separated the waters so The Isarelites could cross over. Want to know more about him?

  • Step 2: Encourage children to share their story.

" Well, I have been saved for about _________ years now"

  • Step 3: Encourage children to share The Creation Story.

Example: " GOD did not just separate the waters ( The Red Sea) but he made the first man Adam and the first woman Eve from the dust of THE Earth. Isn't that amazing?"

Children may proceed to talk about Cain and Abel.

  • Step 4: Instruct children to then invite individuals to church to discover more about God.

What if a child asks why he or she should engage in Evangelism.

Here are a few reasons supported by scripture to indicate why we ALL should.

  1. God commands us to do so. Ezekiel 3:17-19

  2. We want yo glorify God . Matthew 5:15-26

  3. We want to please God. Proverbs 12:30

  4. We have a duty to God. Proverbs 11:30

  5. We have a duty to fellow sinners because evangelizing is good news Isaiah 45:22, Matthew 11:28

  6. We are grateful to God. John 3:16-17, John 14:6

Acts 20:24

How To make Children Eager to Approach Others to Share The Good News

  1. Teach them confidence.

  2. Have them recite scriptures until they know it from memory. A few popular ones are John 3:16 and John 14:6

  3. Have them practice on you or people they feel comfortable with and build their confidence so that when it comes time to approach strangers they are not timid. Every skill, gift and talent that God has given you experiences perfection with practice.

  4. Give the microphone to children so they can participate in church activities and events.

  5. Encourage them to talk to at least one person daily at school about Jesus.

I hope this helps.

Please watch children as they evangelize.

Unfortunately, we live in a world where there are cruel people who will hurt an innocent child. In addition, please encourage children not to evangelize without permission and supervision.

Can a child evangelize?

Most definitely.

"And a child will lead them"

Isaiah 11:6
