I enjoy movies that relay a message. Movies that make me ponder long after it has finished and touches me intellectually, emotionally and spiritually.
I recently watched a classic, "The Lion King" and as I contemplated on its messages, I was moved to think about The Book of Ecclesiastes written by Solomon. He begins this book in The Bible with such a sense of almost dismal, desperate, despair,
"Meaningless, Meaningless!
says the Teacher
Utterly Meaningless!
Everything is Meaningless." (NIV)
He then goes on to lament that generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever. And such is the Circle of Life.
It is appointed for man once to die, and then it is judgement.
And so The Circle of Life is applicable and continuous.
A man is born, he toils, he ages, he dies. His children grow up; they then have children; as their children age so too do the parents, and then they die. Then their legacy which is their kids grow up and the circle of life continues, generation after generation.
A man when he is a baby is weak and dependent on another. Likewise, if the world tarries and God grants us long life, which is our portion, by the way, we may not be as strong in our old age as we were in our youth and so is dependent on another. When you seriously think about this, you would treat people better, or begin to for you never know whose right hand you will clutch as you lay on your bed, too feeble, to get a drink of water for yourself.
So, the Circle of Life from Birth to Death is an unknown journey.
There is a constant reminder that what goes around, comes around. In The Lion King, Simba's uncle, Scar, told him to " Run away and never return". after he convinced him that he was responsible for his Father's death. How ironic that when Simba found out he murdered his father, he used the very same line.
The CIRCLE of Life. In power today, in fugitive mode tomorrow.
The Circle of Life will also make you wonder about Solomon's words in Ecclesiastes 3.
There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under The Heaven
from birth to death
to plant, then uproot
kill then heal
tear down then build
weep then laugh
mourn then dance
search then give up
silent then speak
love then hate
war then peace
The Cirlce of The Emotional State of Man, never the same. It is a fluctuation of inconsistencies and meanderings that are predicated on "feelings". The most basal and depraved state of functionality and human existence. Wars have begun because of "feelings". Marriages have ended because of "feelings". People have been murdered because of "feelings" . I scoff and spit at "feelings".
The seasonal occurrence of life and death have been happening before the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus.
Where is David, the giant slayer?
Where is Elisha who received a double portion from Elijah?
Where is Saul who was anointed by Samuel?
Where is Elijah?
Such great acts carried out by these men!
But The Circle of Life dictates no one lives forever.
" I shall pass this way but once. Any good thing therefore that I can do, let me do it now.
Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass." this way again."
I present to you a compelling quote. But my friend, I say this, with love, good deeds will not get you into heaven. Acceptance of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, accompanied by being a DOER of his word are what will, because once Saved, doesn't mean always saved.
The Circle of Life ends after death, because either Heaven or Hell shall be your home for Eternity. You WIll pass this way, ONLY ONCE, and you shall stand ALONE to be judged by God.
